Watch 8K VR180 on Meta Quest
Quest headsets can download and play X RAVE files on their own, no computer needed. If you prefer, download on a PC and copy the file over USB.
Step by step
Open your link in the Quest Browser
Put on the headset, open the browser and go to the private download page from your email. Signing in to your webmail in the browser is the easiest way to get there.
Download the MP4
Start the download and keep the headset awake and charged until it finishes. The file is saved to the headset's Download folder.
Or copy it from a PC
Download on your computer, connect the Quest with a USB-C data cable, allow file access in the headset, then copy the MP4 into its Movies or Download folder. On a Mac you may need a file transfer app for Android devices.
Open it in a VR player
Use a player that opens local files, such as Skybox VR Player, DeoVR or Pigasus from the Meta Horizon Store. Meta Quest TV has also been able to play local videos on some system versions.
Choose 180° side by side
If the picture looks doubled or flat, set the format to 180° and 3D side by side (SBS, left-right) in the player's settings.
Tips
Quest 3 and 3S play 8K 60 fps HEVC in many players. If playback stutters, try a different player first.
Quest Pro may have trouble with 8K at 60 fps in some players. Playing from a PC over Link or Air Link can help (see the PC VR guide).
Keep the headset plugged in during long downloads so it doesn't go to sleep.
A 10 GB file usually copies faster over a USB-C cable than over slow Wi-Fi.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the file on my Quest?
In the Download folder of the internal storage, or in the folder you copied it to. Most players list local files under a Local or Files tab.
The video looks flat or shows two pictures side by side.
The player is using the wrong format. Choose 180° 3D side by side (SBS) in its format menu. Most players remember the choice for that file.
Do I need a computer?
No. A computer is only useful if you prefer a wired download or want to keep a backup copy.
